Basic Dental Anatomy

Dental anatomy is one of the most important things for an orthodontic technician to learn. Prescriptions often contain very specific anatomical terms and are used to pinpoint positions on an individual tooth. Dental anatomy is sometimes referenced in combination with Basic Oral Anatomy.

The structure of the teeth themselves is also critically important. If a doctor indicates, they want the wire to touch the cingulum, or avoid the erupting cuspid, it is important to know exactly what that means.
