The Keles Keyless Expander (KKE) is a rapid palatal expander that features a built-in activation arm. It stands out from other rapid palatal expanders by eliminating the need for a separate key, by its small size, and ease of use. KKE offers numerous benefits, such as comfort, increased treatment adherence, short treatment duration, and effective patient-friendly treatment outcomes.

How It Works
The Keles Keyless Expander (KKE) features an integrated activation arm. When it is time for activation, the patient or parent simply push the activation arm downward to complete the expansion, and then back upward to reset for the next movement.

The frequency of expansion depends on the treatment plan provided by the doctor, but activations can be completed as frequently as twice per day. At this rate, treatment should be completed in roughly one month.

If needed, the screw can be reversed in the doctor's office. Reversals should not be completed by the patient: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/H5AR6ps76wk
What It Includes
An order of a Keles Keyless Expander includes only the appliance.
Who It's Meant For
The Keles Keyless Expander is ideal for patients who:
- Are between 6-16 years old
- Have parents that struggle with activating an expander
- Have suspected compliance issues with a traditional expander protocol, or have shown low-adherence to other treatments
- Have anxiety surrounding turning the screw on a traditional expander correctly
- Are prone to losing items
- Struggle with the motor function needed to turn the expander with a traditional key
- Have physical or cognitive difficulties, and require a more inclusive solution
Who It's Not Meant For
The Keles Keyless Expander is not restricted to any patient requiring expansion treatment.
How Does This Solution Fix My Problem?
Using a KKE in your treatment plan helps to ensure that expansion will be completed as expected. Many parents and patients struggle with traditional expanders that require a separate key:
- They fumble to find the activation hole, leading to uncomfortable patients and frustrated parents. This leads to lower compliance overall, and can lead to emergency appointments to re-learn how to activate.
- They struggle to activate the expander completely. Turning the external key can be difficult to complete fully, especially if coordination is a struggle. This leads to longer treatment times.
- They lose the external key. Whether it's in the car, at the bottom of a backpack, at the other parent's house, or simply gone forever, a lost key means that activations can't be completed on schedule. This leads to lost time and emergency appointments.
The KKE incorporates the key, removing difficulty from activation and eliminating the possibility of a lost key.
